We started out our day around 8:00 am today with our morning meeting and prayer time. Ron has been great at coming up with songs for praise after each meeting. We have developed a good mealtime bell. We stand around the table singing until everyone gets to the table.
A couple of the pictures attached are of a typical breakfast. Tons of local fruit and fresh juices. They are taking such good care of us! Phil and Rita are great hosts. We took a quick tour of the "Light of our Life" building. So much outreach work is done here reaching out to the prisons.
This morning, we all worked on the Christmas boxes. After lunch, Betty and Charlotte went shopping for the tea on Thursday. After lunch, the guys worked on the boxes some more. We are getting a lot of help from the congregation. Jim and I started work on the room that Phil wants built. After getting the right supplies and the right tools, we should be done with that by tomorrow. We have gotten out 148 cases of shoe boxes done.
Keep us in your prayers!
- Phil is undergoing tests for possible diabetes.
- I bumped into Charlotte's foot today.
- Charlotte and Joe will be teaching the high school group at the Wednesday night service.
- The tea is on Thursday.

Here are Elminha, Alini and Luciana.
This has become our work area for the Samaritan's Purse boxes.
Just know that you are being covered in prayer for the requests, that I am jealous (in a totally Biblical way) for the food and juice that you guys are getting and that I am praising Him for His continued hand!!
ReplyDeleteLots of prayers to you all and glad you are eating so much fruit and have such good hosts. Will pray for Phil's foot. Glad you are getting so much done. Did you give out the napkins at the teas? Pray for us at home.
ReplyDeleteLots of love,
Bernie Francis

Dear Bernice and those interested!
ReplyDeleteAt the first tea, we had a napkin at each place setting. At the second tea in the village, the Pastor's wife had already done a beautiful job of setting the table, so we improvised! We passed out the napkins saying, "Para voce"...for you, with each person. While I passed out the napkins, Charlotte told the ladies that each of the napkins had been made by ladies in our church who were praying for them. The napkins were a gift and each time they looked at the napkins, they would know that someone was praying for them in the states and that, as we are all sisters in Christ, they could pray for the saints in California, too.
The teas were a lot of work but it was so worth it to connect with the ladies in such a personal way!
Love in Christ,
Betty
